This cartoon's message is about U.S and other countries
opening trade to China. The other message is that there was a rush to China to
gain land and materials after they lost a war to Japan. Many Countries thought of this as an opportunity to gain land a materials from China. After the war
with China and Japan, Chinese citizens were not happy with other countries
going into their country. The U.S wanted to trade with China just like other countries did too. China was weak and beat down after losing the war, so countries started invading. Other
opinions that people might have are that the U.S power was very strong at the
time. The techniques used in this cartoon are symbolism because it uses
characters that symbolize other countries. The other technique used in this
cartoon is labeling because it shows China as a man with a robe that said China
on it and it represents China. The bag that says U.S commercial expansionist is the symbol of U.S influence on other countries. Other countries tried to expand their sphere of influence just as the U.S did.
